Old rock, scattered brick edging, and overgrown beds - that's what we were working with here. The beds had lost their shape, the gravel had gotten patchy, and the whole front of the house just looked tired. It's one of those situations where the bones are good, but the landscaping is dragging everything down.

We started by pulling out all the old rock and clearing the beds completely. Getting rid of the gravel was the right call - it had shifted around over time and was doing more harm than good visually. Once we had a clean slate, we laid down fresh dark mulch across the entire front and side beds. The difference that makes on its own is significant.

Then came the natural edge. This is the part that really ties everything together. A clean, defined border between the bed and the lawn gives the whole yard a finished, intentional look. It tells the eye exactly where the landscape ends and the grass begins. No more guesswork, no more blur between the two.

The plants that were already there - the shrubs, the ornamental trees - they got to shine once the beds were cleaned up and properly mulched around them. A good refresh isn't always about adding more. Sometimes it's about removing what's cluttering the space and letting what's already there do its job.

Curb appeal matters whether you're planning to sell or just want to feel good pulling into your driveway. A well-kept front bed signals that a home is cared for. That's exactly what this kind of landscaping work delivers.
