Some backyards just need a full reset. Not a patch job - a real, start-from-scratch approach. That's exactly what we tackled here. Overgrown, unstructured, and without any real definition, this space had a lot of potential sitting underneath a rough surface.

We started by stripping the sod and clearing out the mess along the property line. That kind of ground prep is what makes everything else work. Skipping it leads to uneven edging, poor drainage, and plantings that don't establish well. We don't skip it.

Once the ground was ready, we installed a chain-link fence to establish a solid boundary, then set a timber edging wall along the border to give the bed a clean, finished edge. The timber keeps everything in its place - soil stays where it belongs and the line between turf and planting bed stays sharp. Then came the trees, planted in a row along the fence line to eventually add a natural privacy screen as they grow in.

The result is a yard that actually has structure now. Clear boundaries, a defined planting area, and greenery that will only get better with time. It went from a rough, undefined space to something that looks intentional and well put-together. That's the difference proper landscaping and excavation work makes.

Jobs like this are pretty satisfying because the scope covers everything - ground prep, fencing, edging, and planting all in one. When it all comes together, the space speaks for itself.
